When we think of American history, it often stretches back only a few hundred years to the forming of the nation. However, the true human history of the lands we live on today dates back to the Paleo-Indians, who were the first settlers on the continent around the end of the Ice Age 14,000 years ago. While much of Indigenous history has been erased and overlooked, an overdue reckoning is starting to put many sites back in the spotlight. Here are 17 U.S. landmarks you can visit to commemorate Indigenous history.
